It was all joy and fun at the grand finale of the 2017 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz involving Adisadel College, Prempeh College and St. Thomas Aquinas SHS… Until the programme ended and the quizmistress alerted organisers that she could not find her handbag.
“Unfortunate but funny” was the best way of describing the sad incident, which was reported by Adom FM. The quizmistress, Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann was devastated and shocked.
Hours after the complaint was lodged with the police, pictures of the missing bag flooded social media. In what seemed to be an award session in Adisadel College, the headmaster of Adisadel, Mr William Kusi Yeboah, who was seen earlier in the day in an oversized suit meant for two people to wear, was presenting the handbag to a student of the school. The student is alleged to be Adisadel’s representative for the 2018 edition of the quiz.
bombonews.com rushed to Adisadel College in Cape Coast to seek clarification on the matter from the headmaster, who agreed to speak to us only if we promised to keep the conversation confidential.
He confessed: “My brother, the quizmistress disgraced us papapapapapa. How can you let us chew grass at national theater like that? How? And every day, she is saying find X, find this, find that. Today, she should also find her bag.”
When bombonews.com asked him whether that was the only reason, he drew closer to us and whispered with a shy smile, “We know next year’s questions are also in the bag. That’s why I presented it to our contestant for next year.”
Several people have also reported seeing the handbag on the arm of some Adisadel boys after the contest. But they say they did not suspect any foul play until the announcement of the missing bag was made. The bag has, however, not been traced yet.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing and bombonews.com will let you know if anything changes.
