Within minutes of hearing that Ghanaian Dancehall Artiste, Stonebwoy, did not win the BET Awards on Saturday, fellow compatriot, Shatta Wale organised a party to mock his colleague.
The winner for the Best International Act – Africa was announced at a private event prior to the main event which will take place in Los Angelos, USA. This category of the award is meant to recognise the works of artistes from Africa and Europe.
According to our source, the camp of Shatta Wale popularly called Shatta Movement keenly followed the BET Awards to see if the Go Higher hitmaker will win the award. We are told that as soon as they got wind that Nigeria’s Wizkid rather than Stonebwoy won the award, Shatta ordered that drinks be brought and the volume be turned up on his latest song, Taking Over.
Given the feud between the two artistes in recent times, it was a relief to the Shatta Movement that their nemesis did not win the award as the social media troll would have been unbearable for them. They jammed all night in celebration.
It is reported that Shatta Wale almost took to Facebook to make a LIVE video to announce his joy but his wife, Shatta Michy talked him out of it. Otherwise, he would be an unpatriotic person and an envious hater.
Stonebwoy, real name Livingstone Etse Satekia, who recently got married to his sweetheart, Dr. Louisa Ansong was nominated together with eventual winner Wizkid, Nasty C, Babes Wodumo, AKA, Davido, Mr. Eazi and Techno Miles for the 2017 Best International Act – Africa Award. This was Stonebwoy’s second nomination for the BET after he won in the same category in 2015.
The 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Award Artiste of the Year winner has already sent a congratulatory message to Wizkid via twitter. This is the second time Wizkid is winning the same award after winning it jointly with Ghana’s Sarkodie in 2012.
